Gustavo Galindo, ’00, is performing at the school on Friday, Feb. 6.
Galindo was in the area visiting family, so Spanish teacher Maya Pelle asked if he would be willing to perform for her Spanish class.
“He agreed, and I took full advantage of it,” Pelle said. “Now we are having an assembly!”
Galindo received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Rock, Pop or Urban Album for his 2011 album Entre La Ciudad Y El Mar.
Pelle said that she hopes the performance will drum up enthusiasm for the Breakthrough Benefit Galindo does every year with a full band in July at SCDS.
In the past, Galindo has performed at Country Day for World Cultures Day, as well as the annual Breakthrough concert.
Recently, Galindo has been performing in Mexico, working on his second album, which is in the recording stages.
