In the rematch of their previous day’s game, the JV volleyball team was unable to exact revenge against Valley Christian on Oct. 14.

The girls lost the Homecoming game in two sets (13-25, 8-25).

Even though the team trailed for most of the game, the crowd support was still there.

“The crowd support was great,” sophomore Chloe Collinwood said.

“It helped us keep our spirits up even though we were losing.”

And despite losing, the girls made significant improvements from the previous game.

In their previous game against Valley Christian, the girls scored a total of 13 points. They were able to match that tally in just the first set of Friday’s game.

“(It was a) major improvement from the night before,” coach Kristi Mathisen said.

“We scored many more points and had multiple rallies.”

But this won’t be the last time the team faces the Lions.

Their next game, on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m., the girls will get another crack at them. And they appear to be getting closer to finding a way to best Valley.

“The thing that is holding us back now is the mental game,” Mathisen said.

“(We’re) knowledgeable about the technique and process. But (we) lack confidence to go hard without holding back or thinking too much.”
