With no subs available, girls’ soccer falls to Cristo Rey (full recap)

Date: April 21

Opponent: Cristo Rey High School

Location: Granite Regional Park

Score: 0-2

Halftime: 0-0

Previous game: The girls beat Cristo Rey 7-3 on April 12.

Inside info from freshman Michaela Chen: “Our main problem was that we didn’t have any subs because most were at Open House.”

Inside info from junior Isabelle Leavy: “We would have won if we had the whole team there. Only 11 people showed up, so we had no subs. This meant that people like me, who usually sit on the bench the majority of the game, had to play a full game.

“Everyone was tired, and many of us had never played on turf. The forces simply aligned against us.”

Inside info from freshman goalie Bella Mathisen: “In the second half we got tired, I let a couple goals in, and the forwards couldn’t score any. I think we would have won if we had all our players.”

Next game: Tuesday, April 26, against Buckingham Charter Magnet High School at 4 p.m. on Elm Street Field
