The girls’ soccer team won its final regular season game against the Leroy Greene Academy Lions, 2-1, on Feb. 14.
The win displayed the girls’ determination. Going into the second half of the game, they were trailing, 0-1.
“Even when we were down 0-1, we didn’t give up,” sophomore Abby LaComb said.
LaComb and fellow sophomore Lia Kaufman scored the Cavs’ two goals in the final five minutes to secure the win.
The key for the Cavs was their aggression. They attempted 35 shots to the Lions’ two.
“We were aggressive throughout,” LaComb said. “If we play that way moving forward, we’ll put ourselves in a spot to win our games,”
This was a crucial win since it tied the girls with Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. The winner of the next game will take second place and move on to playoffs.
The Cavs are 1-1 against the Wolves. They won their first matchup of the season, 1-0, but lost their second game, 2-4.
The Western Sierra game was on Feb. 15 at Mahany Park in Roseville. Check back for results
