Lutheran and SCDS vie for the ball in the Feb. 6 game.

Seeking revenge, boys’ varsity vanquishes Lutheran, 66-39

Last year, Lutheran beat the Cavs at home, 71-56. This year, the Cavs were out for revenge.

With freshman Rick Barros III back on the court after time off for an injury, the Cavs had all five starters in play and smashed Lutheran, 66-39 at home.

“They were over-celebrating last year, so it felt amazing to beat them,” freshman Jayce McCain said.

The team attributed their win to strong rebounding.

“This was our best rebounding game of the year,” McCain said.

Barros agreed.

“We played really good defense and moved the ball around well,” he said.

The team’s high scorer was freshman B.J. Askew with 18 points, followed by freshman  Cole Johnson with 16 points and McCain with 13 (three 3-pointers).

The boys’ next game is Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Faith Christian at 7:30 p.m.
