Boys’ soccer overwhelms Faith Christian, winning 8-3

The boys’ soccer team defeated Faith Christian, 8-3, on Oct. 23.

The boys raced out to a 6-0 lead by halftime. They received two goals from senior Erik Morfin-Ruiz and freshman B.J. Askew. Also scoring in the first half were senior Ethan Ham and junior Jacob Durante.

In the second half the boys added two goals from Morfin-Ruiz and junior Diego Perochena.

With the large lead heading into the second half, players were placed out of position to learn new skills.

“It was a good learning experience (in the second half) when we were playing out of position,” senior Skovran Cunningham said. “The opportunity gave us valuable experience for the future.”

Cunningham was switched to goalkeeper and allowed the three second-half goals. Meanwhile, junior Brad Petchauer, starting goalkeeper, played in the midfield instead.

The boys’ next game will be Tuesday, Oct. 28, against Buckingham.
