Freshman Ulises Barajas (red runner farthest to left) and junior Keaton Ochoa (red runner farthest to right) run the 5,000-meter race at The Other Meet Invite, Oct. 11.

A bad day at the track: junior misses race because of poor direction; faulty timers scratch other runners’ times

Only three of the cross-country runners attended The Other Meet Invite at Granite Regional Park, Oct. 11.

The runners’ times were not recorded at this meet due to faulty timers, junior Adam Ketchum said.

When the places were written down at the end of the meet, a couple of the runners’ times didn’t match the places they received. Due to this uncertainty, all times were scratched.

Although the times were unofficial, Ketchum thought that he and the other runners (junior Keaton Ochoa and freshman Ulises Barajas) didn’t perform very well.

“I think that we were all extremely tired from the busy week we had had at school,” Ketchum said.

Junior Emma Belliveau missed her race entirely because of incorrect directions.

“My mom plugged the wrong address into our GPS,” Belliveau said. “When I finally made it to the meet, my race had already begun, and they wouldn’t let me switch to another race at that point.”

The team’s next meet will be the Bella Vista Bronco Invite at the Willow Hills Reservoir Course in Folsom on Saturday, Oct. 18.
