Dec. 10 fundraiser in honor of Connor Burns to be held at recording studio

A fundraiser for a middle-school recording studio in memory of Connor Burns, a seventh grader who died last year, will be held on Thursday, Dec. 10, from 5 p.m.-8 p.m..

The event will be held at the Track Shack (1745 Markston Rd., Sacramento), a recording studio owned by SCDS parent Chuck Hansen.

Connor’s love of music, particularly rock and roll, prompted his family to raise money for the studio.

“They thought it would be a great gift to give to the school in memory of Connor,” Hansen said.

A band of top artists and singers is being put together for the event, including Bobby Vega on bass, Donny Baldwin on Drums, Jeff Tamelier on guitar, Jim Pugh on keyboard and vocalist MZ Dee.

The event will be catered by local restaurants.

Hansen’s studio, which contains arcade games, along with a full-sized basketball court, will also be open for guests.

According to Hansen, Connor’s father, Steve, had meetings throughout the summer with school administrators to complete plans for the building.

Burns then asked Hansen if he could reserve a night at the Track Shack.

“I said, ‘Absolutely! What better place to raise funds for a studio than in a studio?’” Hansen said.

Those planning to attend should RSVP to Steve Burns (stephendburns@icloud.com) or Wendy Lauchland (lauchlandcowendy@gmail.com).
