Sue Nellis will resign as head of high school, return to full-time teaching

Sue Nellis announced that after this school year she will resign as head of high school during morning meeting on Nov. 15.

Headmaster Stephen Repsher said the school will be conducting a national search to find a new head of high school, including faculty, parents and students in the decision-making process.

Nellis will take over retiring teacher Daniel Neukom’s position as history department chair and freshman history teacher next year.

Neukom will continue teaching AP European History, and Nellis will continue teaching AP United States History.

Nellis began teaching at Country Day in 1982 before becoming the head of high school.

“Under her expert guidance, the quality of teaching and the breadth and depth of the curriculum has expanded and strengthened,” Repsher said in an email sent to parents on Nov. 13.
