Although basketball season is over, senior Yasmin Gupta still has one last high school game.

Gupta will be playing in the All Norcal Girls Sacramento vs. Bay Area contest, for team Sacramento on Sunday, April 1, at Las Positas College in Livermore. The game will start at 2:45 p.m.

Although Gupta led the Country Day girls’ basketball team, she will be just one of many stars on the court.

“I was kind of confused at first because I didn’t know I was nominated for the game,” Gupta said. “But when I found out who I was playing with, it was shocking.”

On Gupta’s team is Folsom guard McKenzie Forbes, who is ranked as the 36th best player in the nation per ESPN, and will play for UC Berkeley next season.

But Forbes is not the highest-ranked player participating in the event. That title goes to Aquira DeCosta, who is ranked fourth according to ESPN and is headed to play at Baylor University, currently ranked second in women’s college basketball.

Despite the concentration of talent, Gupta is confident she will be comfortable, having played with “ three or four” of her teammates previously on her basketball team.

“It might be difficult though because I only played half of my season,” Gupta said. Gupta injured her knee and missed the final 10 games of the season.

“(Most of the other players) got to play not only through their seasons but also make it to playoffs,” Gupta said.

The game is hosted by Norcal Sports TV as part of the “Largest All-Star Event on the West Coast.”  There will be an additional high school girls all-star game, two high school boys all-star games, a middle school boys all-star game, and a dunk contest.
