Team captain shoots 6-over-par 42 in season opener

Senior captain Harrison Moon led Country Day with a 6-over-par 42 in its season opener on March 14 at Haggin Oaks Golf Course.

“The match was really long; it took about four hours,” freshman Nihal Gulati said.

Junior David Situ shot a 59 (23 over par). Both junior Yumi Moon and Gulati carded a 67 (31 over par), and junior Anu Krishnan shot a 71 (35 over par).

“I was really pleased with the team’s performance, especially because of our limited practices due to the weather,” coach Matt Vargo said. “Harrison especially stood out to me, shooting only six over par.”

Moon agreed, saying, “I am proud of how we did, but there is certainly room for improvement.”

Vargo added,  “We are just going to keep getting better, and we have lots of promising young players and a great team captain.”

The team’s next match is scheduled for Monday, April 8, at Peach Tree Country Club.
