Joe Zales, ’19, a freshman at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 18.
Zales, who won the 1,000-yard freestyle by over eight seconds (9 minutes, 49.03 seconds), added another individual win in the 500 free (4:43.70) in a 242-51 victory over California Lutheran and Chapman, according to thesciac.org.
Zales previously notched a victory in the 500 in a SCIAC dual meet against Caltech on Nov. 9, making him perfect in conference competition, according to cmsathletics.org, despite just starting his career.
