The host Country Day volleyball team lost to Buckingham Charter 26-28, 18-25, 25-21, 25-13, 18-16 on Oct. 16.
Coach Jason Kreps said he enjoyed the competitiveness of the match.
“It was probably one of my favorite matches to watch this season, along with our previous Buckingham match,” Kreps said, referring to Country Day’s 25-17, 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 15-5 road victory on Sept. 19. “I loved it — the intense rallies and the defense we were playing. We were playing smart, getting in positions (and) covering the hole in the middle.”
Kreps said senior right side Alyssa Valverde played “the best match I’ve ever seen her play.”
Valverde said she was happy with her performance and the Cavs’.
“I think this was a better match for me and a better match for all of us,” Valverde said.
The Cavs’ next match is Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Sacramento Adventist at 6 p.m.
