With a career-high five goals, sophomore Arjin Claire led the host Cavaliers soccer team to a 7-2 victory over Paradise Adventist Academy on Sept. 4.

Freshman RJ Vargo and sophomore Ethan Monasa scored the Cavs’ other goals.

Claire credited teamwork with helping him score his several goals.

“I was just in the right place at the right time,” Claire said. “I got a lot of really good passes that allowed me to score.”

Co-coach George Champayne says he controlled the game better than in Country Day’s season-opening 3-2 loss to visiting Sacramento Waldorf on Aug. 29.

“We played the whole team again; it was just that we had better flow and our finishing was better,” Champayne said.  “It is always a great sign when I put in new subs and we keep scoring.”

The Cavaliers’ next game will be Friday, Sept. 6, at 4 p.m. at Squaw Valley Academy.
