Giving up the game-winning goal with 15 minutes left in the game, the host Country Day soccer team fell 3-2 to the Sacramento Waldorf Waves in the Cavaliers’ season opener on Aug. 29.

Sophomore forwards Arjin Claire and Jordan Lindsay each scored for Country Day.

Only five minutes into the game, Claire scored the Cavaliers’ first goal of the season.

“We learned a lot from the game,” Claire said. “It felt great to score for the team, and I’m excited for the rest of the year.”

Co-coach George Champayne added that the team still needs to work on finishing, among other skills.

“We had five or six times where we could have finished, but we played 22 players today, so it knocked the flow of our game off. The other team only played 13,” Champayne said.

The Cavaliers’ next game will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Paradise Adventist at Country Day.
