On June 8, Nate Jakobs, ’19, and coaches Chris Millsback and Gary Jakobs represented the North team in the 48th annual Optimist High School Baseball Small Schools All-Star Game at Capital Christian High School. The North defeated the South 6-2.

The teams were comprised of seniors from 22 schools in the Sacramento area, with the North having the home-field advantage.

Jakobs, Gary’s son, started in center field and left the game in the sixth. He went 1-2 with an RBI single, a strikeout and two walks.

“We played a great game today,” said Nate Jakobs, who will attend Pitzer College in Claremont and play for Pomona-Pitzer. “We did well defensively, hit the ball and got on base a lot.”

Coach Chris Millsback agreed.

“The team played phenomenally,” he said. “We had some great defensive and offensive players, and our pitching was really good.”

Millsback said he was happy to cap the season on a high note.

“I’m extremely proud of Nate,” he said. “It’s been great coaching him throughout high school, and this was a great way to end it.”
