Date: Oct. 12
Opponent: Faith Christian Academy
Location: Faith Christian
Score: 3-0
Inside info per sophomore Lili Brush: “In the second half the forwards did a good job of ‘finishing,’ or scoring the goal. In the first half, we were kind of slow and didn’t finish as much as we wanted to, but in the second half the forwards and midfielders were doing a really good job of getting the ball near the other team’s goal.
“The most challenging part of the game was waking up and playing our best. In the first half, we weren’t playing as well as we knew we could. After (coach) George (Champayne) talked to us at halftime, we did much better.
“I think that we just need to be able to have our heads in the game right when we first step out onto the field. We were really aggressive at the beginning of the second half, and we just need to walk onto the field at the beginning of the first half like that.”
Inside info per freshman Malek Owaidat: “The most challenging part of the game was the first half. We came into the game thinking we were going to win easily.
“Our communication is getting better, (but) we need to improve our pre-game warmup and good decisions.
Inside info per senior Mehdi Lacombe: “I asked to join the team, but I didn’t actually play (in) this game, so I’ll play next game.
“But in warmups it was nice to get back to hitting the ball after so many years. I got a shot in on goal during warmups that I was pretty impressed by just because I thought I would’ve lost a lot more of my skill from middle school.”
Next match: Monday, Oct. 15, against Cristo Rey at 5:30 p.m. at Cristo Rey.
