Opponents: According to freshman Sydney Turner, Davis High School was present at the meet. Senior Amalie Fackenthal said that “Davis has better competition and is a strong swim school. We knew more people on the Davis team (than on the other teams at the past meets) so it was a better atmosphere.”

Also present at the swim meet was a St. Francis-Jesuit combo team

Location: Jesuit High School

Date: March 14

Fun fact: All seven SCDS swimmers (freshman Athena Lin, freshman Brian Chow, Turner, freshman Layla MoheyEldin, sophomore Rebecca Waterson, junior Joe Zales and Fackenthal) were at the meet, and the 200-meter freestyle relay team – Fackenthal, Waterson, Turner and Lin – won the event for the second time this year.

“We had faster times in both of our relays, which means that we have a higher ranking in (the San Joaquin swimming and diving) Sectionals,” Fackenthal said. (Sectionals is the competition between the league champions.)

Inside info from Turner: “My 200-meter IM (individual medley) was good, the relays were good, but my 100-meter back – so bad!”

Inside info from Fackenthal: “We tried out a different order of people swimming in the relay, which might have helped us. We had more experience, which helped us too.

“I am excited for Sections this year. We have a really strong relay – probably the strongest relay that I have had in my time at Country Day. I think we have a strong shot at placing at Sections and even making States.”
