Opponent: Encina Preparatory High School

Location: Encina Preparatory

Date: March 8

Final scores: Senior Zihao Sui lost (0-6, 0-6), senior Nico Burns won (6-0, 6-0), junior Leo Eisner de Eisenhof won (6-0, 6-0), senior Lily Brown and junior Chardonnay Needler won (10-3) and juniors Allison Zhang and Jacqueline Chao won (10-6).

Inside info per Brown: “Chardonnay and I are both really good at communicating, so that helped us remain confident throughout the match. We also encourage each other a lot and try not to get too intimidated by our opponents.

“I think we should work on our volleys and serves, (but) besides that we make a good team!”

Inside info per Zhang: “Jacqueline and I were really consistent about our serves and returning the ball. Even though she hadn’t played for (about) a year, once we got warmed up and got into the game, we worked together well.

“At first I didn’t think we’d be able to win because we hadn’t played together and it was the first match that I was able to go to, but we managed to tie the score up to 6-6 and then we won the next four games.”

Next match: Tuesday, March 13, against Bradshaw Christian at 2:30 p.m. at Rio Del Oro.
