Senior Yasmin Gupta goes in for a layup in the girls’ Dec. 6 game against the Western Sierra Wolves.
Opponent: El Dorado Adventist School
Location: El Dorado Adventist
Date: Jan. 3
Final score: 36-39, Cavs’ loss
Fun fact: This was the Cavs’ lowest-scoring game of the season. The team scored only 12 points in the first half.
Inside info from senior Esme Bruce-Romo: “It was pretty disappointing losing in such a close game, especially because we could’ve (won if) we played better in the first half.”
Inside info from junior Bella Mathisen: “In the first half alone I had three fouls, so I had to be more careful than usual. Our rebounding was not as (strong) as previous games, but luckily (El Dorado Adventist was) not (making shots consistently).”
Comment from coach Latonia Pitts: “Despite the number of fouls called, I think we did a good job of not fouling out. We had a tremendous amount of missed layups and free throws. We couldn’t get anything to fall.”
Next game: Friday, Jan. 5, against Cristo Rey at 6 p.m. at home.
