Teams honor their players with speeches, awards at spring sports barbecue

On May 25, the spring sports were celebrated with a barbecue in the high-school quad. Players, coaches and their family members attended. 

Baseball

Sophomore Nate Jakobs made first team in the Sacramento Metropolitan Athletic League in addition to receiving the MVP league  award. Senior Zane Jakobs made second team in the league and took home the Cy Young Award. Sophomore Jack Christian and senior Emil Erickson earned honorable mention in the league. Freshman Jackson Crawford and sophomore Alex Rogawski were given coach’s awards, and senior Daniel Hernried earned the team’s MVP award.

Tennis

Junior Nico Burns was the league’s MVP. Senior Emil Erickson and sophomore Micaela Chen were all league, and all seven of the tennis players were academic all league. Sophomore Chardonnay Needler took the coach’s award while sophomore Allison Zhang received the team’s MVP title.

Softball

Freshman Naomi Turnbull made second team and also received the league award for team MVP. Seniors Avi Bhullar and Alexa Mathisen received all league honorable mention. Bhullar and sophomore Sophie Naylor also received team coach’s awards. Freshman Alyssa Valverde was team most improved.

Golf

Junior Miles Edwards was the team’s MVP. Freshman Ted Zhou received the coach’s award.

Track and Field

Sophomore Heidi Johnson was given the Most Valuable Athlete award.

Swimming

There were no awards.
