Junior Cole Johnson dribbles toward the basket.

Date: Dec. 15

Opponent: Mira Loma High School (4-4)

Final score: 46-57, Cavs’ loss

First half: 27-19

Inside info from spectator, junior Yasmin Gupta: “When they were warming up, I thought they were going to have a tough game. The other team had a lot of guys taller than us. Plus, when the game began, Mira Loma scored 8 points in the first two minutes. But after that, our team worked really hard. We were even up by 8 points at the half. The Cavs got a lot of foul calls for them, while the other team didn’t get many calls.”

Inside info from junior Cole Johnson: “The first half we came out with a lot of energy, but in the second half, we didn’t come out with nearly as much. The other team also had a better gameplay than us. We need to adjust our play style after the first half to match the other team’s new gameplay. If we want to win, then we have to adapt with the game.”

Players of the game (per coach Dave Ancrum): “(Junior) Bryce (Longoria) because his defense was great, and he was aggressive and tough on the court. He also had a lot of rebounds. I thought that (junior) Harkirat (Lally) did a great job too.”

Next game: Friday, Dec. 16, away at Victory Christian High School in the Victory Christian Viking Classic Tournament at 4 p.m. The Cavs’ opponent is TBD.
