Final score: 1-1

Halftime: 0-1

Roster switch-up: The Cavs again faced a reduced roster, as many of their starters were out.

Seniors Emma Belliveau, Aidan Galati, Madison Judd, junior Natalie Brown and freshman goalie Bella Mathisen did not attend.

“I had to start all my subs,” coach George Champayne said.

In Mathisen’s absence, freshman Michaela Chen played goalie.

Both playing in positions they don’t normally play, sophomores Nina Dym started as forward and Evann Rudek as sweeper.

“We had some close calls, and everyone did really well working together to stop plays or shots,” LaComb said.

In the second half, LaComb scored a goal to tie the game 1-1. The Cavs held Western Sierra for the remainder of the game.

“I’m just proud of the girls,” Champayne said. “This was a big tie.”

Player of the game (per Champayne): Chen.

Next game: Tuesday, May 5, at 4 p.m. against Cristo Rey at home.
