The SCDS golf team placed third in a golf match at Rancho Solano on April 18.
The Cavs came in third with 253 strokes.
Buckingham Charter Magnet High School placed second with 249, and Sacramento Adventist Academy first with 232.
Sophomore Miles Edwards was third overall with 43 strokes, and senior Ben Felix fourth with 44. Senior Brad Petchauer had 53 strokes, and senior Jake Sands, 57.
This match was the first of the season for freshman Luca Procida, who had 56 strokes.
“I played pretty well, but I still need to iron out some of the wrinkles,” he said. “Ski season overlapped with golf, and my schedule has been packed. So I didn’t have much time for practices.”
Felix also managed to get an eagle (two below par) on one hole.
“They’re pretty rare,” he said. “I was really excited, but I tried to hide the excitement.”
Coach Matt Vargo said that there’s always room for improvement in golf and that the team played well.
The next match is the SMAL League Championship on Monday, May 2, at Haggin Oaks.
