Not one, not two, not three, but four! That’s the number of goals freshman Abby LaComb scored in the Cavs’ 5-2 win over Victory Christian on March 17.

Senior Jenny Kerbs scored the other one.

According to LaComb, the Cavs’ defense was strong and allowed the Cavs to win the ball.

So while the Cavs’ defense was preventing Victory Christian from easily scoring, the girls were able to score their five goals.

“Our shots were almost always on frame, which definitely helped us score,” LaComb said.

Senior Aidan Galati said Victory Christian didn’t have a very strong offense.

“They had some fast runners, but they didn’t have a lot of skill, especially the strikers,” she said.

However, according to Galati, the Cavs have room for improvement.

“We need to work on staying calm with the ball, and not panicking when we get it,” she said. “We need to have more controlled passes and plays.”

Nevertheless, even if the Cavs made a mistake, the girls weren’t discouraged.

“The girls are always shouting encouragements rather than letting obstacles affect us negatively,” freshman Michaela Chen said.

The Cavs’ next game is at home against Cristo Rey on Tuesday, April 12, at 3 p.m.
