The only SCDS snowboarder competing in state competition, junior Aidan Cunningham, raced in giant slalom  at Mount Shasta, March 9.

He placed 73rd of 81 snowboarders.

The course was torn-up and hard to race on the first two days of competition, but the conditions, still snowy and rainy, improved on the third day, according to coach Jason Kreps.

Cunningham, who earlier in the season split his time between snowboarding and basketball, was pleased with his placing.

“I thought I did well for the amount of time I put in,” he said.

Cunningham will not compete in the slalom race on March 10, as he did not qualify.

Check back later for a full season wrap-up with overall placings and coach’s comments.
