Freshmen combine for three goals, but first scrimmage ends in tie with Delta

Scorers: Freshmen Abby LaComb and Lia Kaufman

Turning point: The Cavs were down by two goals at halftime, but gained momentum in the second half. Kaufman scored on a penalty kick, and LaComb scored a goal tying the game at 2-2. Delta scored another goal, but the Cavs again came back when LaComb scored on a free kick.

Inside info from coach George Champayne: “The girls worked well together in the first game of the season. We have a talented young team with six or seven girls that really know how to play the game. I haven’t had that in 10 years.”

Inside info from sophomore Nina Dym: “At first it was hard to see how we were going to work together, but towards the end we figured out.”

Player of the game (per Champayne): Senior Aidan Galati, “because she played outside fullback and stopped their right side.”

Special recognition (per Champayne): Junior Natalie Brown, LaComb and Kaufman.
