Junior Zane Jakobs practices his swing before the Cavs’ loss to Delta High School, March 1.

Date: March 1

Opponent: Div. VI Delta High School Saints

Location: Clarksburg

Score: 0-14

Game analysis from freshman Nate Jakobs: “(Senior) Ben (Felix) and I pitched well, but we just couldn’t make plays on defense. Also, we didn’t convert on offense when we had guys on base. But it’s still early in the season, so we have time to improve.”

Inside info from senior Ben Felix: “It was the first game of the season. We obviously have some rust, so we have to work it off. We have some new players and players who joined late, so we haven’t had a lot of practice with the full roster. It is unfortunate we played a good team the first game.”

More inside infoThe Cavs struggled to get on base throughout the game, getting only three hits. And when they were on base, the boys struggled to capitalize with subsequent hits to bring runners home. All in all, it was a rough hitting day.

Next game: Tuesday, March 8, at 4 p.m. at McAuliffe Field (Cavs’ home field) against the Sacramento Waldorf Waves
