A large audience packed the gym on Aug. 31 to support varsity volleyball and sports scholarships.
The girls easily won, 3-0, in the Foundation Game against Cornerstone Christian.
Funds raised by the admission for the game went to the Dale Lacky Scholarship. The referees also volunteered their time for the event.
The scholar-athlete program was founded in 1992 for the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section. It awards scholarships to scholar-athletes “whose academic and athletic careers have been truly exemplary.”
Alumni Claire Pinson,‘15, and Ethan Ham,‘15, won the award in the spring.
This was the final tune-up before the team starts their season against Woodland Christian at home on Sept. 9.
“We had a very fluid and cohesive offensive game,” junior Alexa Mathisen said. “The hits coming at us weren’t very strong, so we could make easy passes that led to complicated plays.”
