Down five players, boys’ soccer loses to Delta

The boys’ soccer team started their season under the scorching sun in 98-degree weather.

The Cavs lost to Delta High School, 3-1, on Aug. 28.

Delta scored twice during the first half, while the Cavs had no goals.

But within the last five minutes of the second half, sophomore Andrew Rossell scored the only goal for the Cavs.

Rossell said one of the problems was they didn’t have the entire team.

According to junior starter Adam Dean, five players were not at the game, including starter Theo Kaufman, who injured his ankle during Tuesday’s practice, and sophomore B.J. Askew, who is on vacation.

Freshman starter Ben Miner said that the team needs to improve on pressuring the opponent and gaining more control of the ball.

The boys’ next game will be on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at home against Encina.
