Tennis team loses to Highlands due to lack of attendance

The tennis team faced Highlands High School on April 16. Because only a handful of team members were available, seniors George Cvetich and Chris Liston, along with junior Max Schmidt, played in the match.

Sophomore Emil Erickson was the only winner, 6-2,6-2. Erickson said that coach Patricia Jacobsen was really helpful during the match because she helped him focus and get his serves in.

Sophomore Christian Van Vleck played doubles with Schmidt, who hadn’t played tennis since the seventh grade. They finished 3-10.

“I struggled with pretty much everything,” Schmidt said. “I’m a horrifically bad tennis player, but it was still fun despite that.” Schmidt served two aces.

Liston played doubles in an exhibition round, meaning that his doubles partner was from Highlands. The two lost the match.

Cvetich was also defeated in two sets.
