Junior Amelia Fineberg placed seventh and eighth in races on Feb. 13.

Senior suffers concussion at ski and snowboard race

The ski and snowboard team competed in two races on Feb. 13 and one on Feb. 16.

Participating in his first competition of the season, senior Skovran Cunningham didn’t finish in his first race and placed 16th in the second. According to Cunningham, he suffered a mild concussion between races.

Junior Amelia Fineberg was seventh and eighth of  15 competitors on Friday. She finished in seventh again on Monday.

Fineberg was the only person to compete on Monday.

Senior Ethan Ham was unable to replicate his third-place finish from his last outing, but he did finish sixth and fifth in the two Friday races.

“Not as many people fell as last time because the course was easier,” Ham said. “But I’m still relatively happy about my placement.”

Sophomore Aidan Cunningham placed 13th and 15th.

“I felt I could have done better in the first race,” Cunningham said.

Cunningham has been consistent with his finishes. In his last two races he was 12th and 13th.

Next, the team will participate at the state championships, March 1-5 at Mammoth Mountain.
