The boys' warm up before the game.

Freshman Reggie Fan leads boys’ JV basketball with 19 points

The boys’ junior varsity basketball team defeated Delta High School, 58-28, at home on Dec. 4.

The starters were freshmen Miles Edwards, Reggie Fan and Bryce Longoria and sophomores Adam Dean and Aidan Cunningham.

Edwards scored the first 3-pointer of the game in the final three minutes of the first quarter.

In the first half the Cavs committed 12 fouls and had nine turnovers and nine steals.

The score was 26-13 at the end of the first half.

Fan made a basket in the first minute of the second half. A minute later Edwards scored too.

At the end of the third quarter, the score was 45-17.

The fourth quarter consisted of some sloppy Cavs’ play, ending with 15 fouls in the second half.

Freshman Jake Longoria scored 5 points, freshman Harkirat Lally scored 1, Edwards scored 12 and Dean scored 9.

Freshman Steven Wang and Bryce Longoria and sophomore David Boley scored 4 points apiece.

Fan led the team with 19 points, nine of them 3-pointers.

Dean, Cunningham, Edwards and Fan play on both the varsity and junior varsity teams.

Because they played on the JV against Delta, they could not also play on the varsity later in the evening.

“I want to get my stats up,” Fan said.

“We moved the ball really well and found open lanes,” Edwards said after the game.

However, the team is still looking to improve in certain areas.

“We  need to improve on fouling less and making more layups,”  Edwards said.
