The boys’ soccer team defeated Delta, 4-2, on Nov. 12.
The boys got off to an early 2-0 lead, with goals from senior Ethan Ham and freshman B.J. Askew. But Delta answered right back with goals of their own to even up the match at halftime.
The majority of the second half was a deadlock between the two teams. Then senior Keegan Crain, in his first game back from injury, broke the tie with a left-footed strike.
Askew put in his second goal soon after the Crain goal.
“The key(to breaking the tie) was to shut out their key player and control the midfield,” Crain said. “It’s basic, but that’s what we had to do.”
Throughout the game the team had die-hard support from the stands. Fans sported festive tiaras and cow bells.
With the victory, the team reaches the Div. VII championship game.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, the boys will face Ripon Christian at a neutral site in Stockton.
