The boys’ soccer team defeated New Life Christian, 5-1, on Nov. 6.

With the victory, the boys advance to the second round of the playoffs.

Senior Ethan Ham led the scoring with two goals. Senior Erik Morfin-Ruiz, sophomore Emil Erickson and freshman B.J. Askew also scored during the match.

Due to CIF rules and regulations, SCDS was required to charge a $4 admission for students and $6 for parents.

Even with the prices, there was a large crowd that, throughout the game, radiated energy and support.

But, even with the win, the Cavs have room to improve. Playing a weaker team allowed them to hide their weaknesses.

“It wasn’t a great performance,” Ham said. “It was sloppy, but it was enough to win.”

The Cavs next face Delta, most likely at home, on Wednesday, Nov. 12. This will be the first meeting between the two this year.
