The boys’ soccer team defeated Cristo Rey, 4-1, on Oct. 30.
This was the final game of the regular season for the Cavs.
The victory was especially exciting because the first matchup between the two teams resulted in a 0-0 tie at the Homecoming game on Oct. 17.
This time SCDS was able to get on the score sheet with a goal each from seniors Ethan Ham and Erik Morfin-Ruiz, sophomore Emil Erickson and freshman B.J. Askew.
With the win the boys will most likely receive the luxury of hosting their first playoff game at home.
(Being at home makes) everything a lot more comfortable (than playing away),” junior Bradford Petchauer said. “(The fans) will definitely factor in, too, since it’s a playoff game.”
Senior Keegan Crain missed yet another game since injuring his ankle nearly two weeks ago. He also will miss the first playoff game but may return later in the playoffs.
The first playoff game will be on Thursday, Nov. 6, against a still undetermined opponent.
