The junior varsity volleyball team lost against rival Valley Christian on Oct. 21, 2-0.
The team was missing freshman Nicole Moxon, so they had no substitutes.
The Lady Lions won first serve in the first set and no. 10 had many aces, forcing the Cavs to take a momentum timeout at 0-8.
SCDS finally sided out at 1-8 after a service error from no. 10.
In the beginning of the first set, there weren’t many rallies but as the set approached the end, both teams started to rally.
The Cavs lost the first set, 10-25.
The second set was much like the first, with many service runs from both teams and some rallies.
At one point, SCDS was up by 4.
But JV lost the second set, 17-25, and the match, 2-0.
“We are disappointed but still hopeful,” sophomore Isabelle Leavy said. “Even though we lost, I am still proud of us.”
JV’s next game is in Citrus Heights against Valley Christian on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 4 p.m.
