The boys’ soccer team lost to El Camino Fundamental High School, 3-0, on Sept. 24.
The first half saw no scoring from either team, though both teams had multiple shots.
However, in the second half, El Camino took a foothold on the game, and didn’t let go, scoring three goals.
Senior Skovran Cunningham said that El Camino underestimated the Cavs in the first half, which is why they were more competitive.
“I’m definitely not surprised, but the loss is kind of tough,” Cunningham. “All of their goals were on throw-ins and (corner kicks).
“(Keeper Brad Petchauer) played a huge game, really awesome. It’s the best game he’s ever played,” Cunningham said.
“They just had their set pieces down.”
Coach Matt Vargo says that he thinks the Cavs will play more games against higher-division schools in the future but has not decided which ones.
