Girls’ JV volleyball defeated by San Juan

The junior varsity team lost against San Juan on Sept. 15, 2-1.

JV started out with a strong lead, with the help of great defense and service runs. The girls managed to keep acing San Juan, and freshman Sonja Hansen had a service run of several points.

JV won the first set.

But San Juan brought their A-game to the next set and reduced many of their errors.

The Cavs fought hard but lost the second set by a couple points.

Because JV matches require winning only two of three sets, San Juan’s win brought an intense third game.

The Cavs started with a lead of several points, but San Juan caught up and SCDS lost the third set and the match.

“In our first set, we really came out strong and that made all of us really confident and excited.” Hansen said. “The last two sets were really tense because we lost our lead.

“The team is a little disappointed that we didn’t win this match, but we’re proud that we fought hard and played our best. We are looking forward to first tournament on Saturday.

The JV’s next game is a tournament at Jackson’s Sports Academy on Saturday, Sept. 20, that starts at 7 a.m.
