The varsity volleyball team lost to Woodland Christian on Sept. 9 at the Yolo County Fairgrounds.
The match took place in what looked like an over-sized oven with a few air movers stationed around the court that added only a humid breeze.
In the first set, the Cavs lost 14-25.
In the second set, they came closer, losing 21-25.
And in the final set, they played Woodland closely again but ultimately lost, 21-25.
At this game, Baxter, the team’s plastic owl, didn’t make an appearance. The team’s new tradition is that every player touches Baxter before a match for good luck.
The next game will be at home on Wednesday, Sept. 10, against John Adams Academy at 5:30.
