The boys’ soccer team won in a 5-1 match against the Sacramento Waldorf Waves, Sept. 10.
The first half was defined by Cavalier dominance, with three goals, two scored by freshman B.J. Askew, the third by freshman Steven Wang.
However, the Waves keeper played a very strong match, stopping several Cavalier shots.
Askew started the second half strongly, completing a hat trick in the 52nd minute, and strong Cavalier defense prevented the Waves from making anything of a 30-yard free kick that shortly followed.
“It’s a great feeling. I’m just trying to go out there, play every game as [well] as I can,” Askew said.
“I’m just trying to play as a team player and support my teammates.”
Eight minutes later, Askew scored yet again, bringing the score to 5-0.
However, in the dying minutes of the match, Waldorf blasted a shot into the upper-right corner of the net that got past SCDS goalkeeper Brad Petchauer.
