Girls’ JV varsity team defeated by Woodland Christian

The junior varsity team lost to Woodland Christian High School on Sept. 9.

SCDS kept up with Woodland Christian for the first couple of points but soon lost the first set with a score of 7- 25.

At the beginning of the second set, the Cavs had a service run and kept a lead of several points. But Woodland Christian sided out and won the second, match 10 – 25.

With the new coaching of Kristi Mathisen it’s easy to see that the team has improved since their last game.

Last year Sarah Song was the junior varsity coach, but now she is the assistant coach of the varsity team.

“She’s not afraid to work hard to get results,” said Isabelle Leavy, the setter of the team. “She’s very determined to make sure that we get the practice time and attention that we need.”

The junior varsity’s next game will be a home game on Sept. 15 against San Juan.
