Junior Adam Ketchum runs a 4,000-meter race at the first cross-country meet of the season, Aug. 30.

Only 2 runners attend cross-country team’s first meet

The cross-country team participated in its first meet at Oakmont High School, Aug. 30.

Juniors Adam Ketchum and Emma Belliveau were the only runners from the team to attend.

Ketchum and Belliveau ran 4,000-meter races, with times of 17:07 and 19:25, respectively.

Since this was the first time Ketchum ran a 4,000-meter race at a meet, he said he wasn’t concerned with his time.

“Although the winning time for the (boys’) race was 14:30,  I will improve with practice as the season goes on,” Ketchum said.

Since it was Belliveau’s first meet, she wasn’t concerned about her time either.

“While 14:34 was the best (girls’) time, the meet was a good preview of what the rest of the season will be like for me,” Belliveau said.

The team’s next meet will be Saturday, Sept. 6, at Willow Hills Reservoir Course in Folsom.
