Winter sports banquet gives out MVP, Most Improved Player awards to basketball teams

The winter sports award banquet for boys’ and girls’ basketball teams took place March 12.

Freshman Natalie Brown, sophomore Julia Owaidat, and juniors Isabella Tochterman and Skovran Cunningham were all awarded the All League Awards.

Tochterman was also awarded the Most Valuable Player Award for the girls’ varsity basketball team.

Four awards were given for the boys’ JV basketball team. Freshman Christian Van Vleck was awarded Most Improved Player, sophomore Jacob Durante the Leadership Award, freshman Emil Erickson the Coaches Award and freshman David Boley the Hard Hat Award.

“The Hard Hat award goes to the player who is the best at defense in some way. In Boley’s case, he was the most aggressive rebounder on the team,” coach Gary Brisco said.

Junior Jaspreet Gill and freshman Aidan Cunningham were awarded Most Improved Player Awards for the boys’ varsity basketball team.

On the girls’ side, Owaidat was also awarded the Coaches Award and junior Micaela Bennett-Smith was named the Most Improved Player.
