The girls’ basketball team fell to Wilton Christian, 39-62, in front of a small and quiet home crowd, Jan. 14.

The game was nothing like the Homecoming game that took place in the very same gym four days ago, when the girls overwhelmed John Adams Academy, 51-11.

By the end of second quarter, Wilton Christian was besting the Cavs, 18-38.

Things got worse in the third quarter when the girls had an immediate turnover. The Cavs trailed Wilton for the remainder of the game.

“We had a lot of confidence because of the crowd last game, but this game not so much because it was not as big of a crowd,” freshman Natalie Brown said.

“Also it was more difficult playing (Wilton Christian) than (John Adams).”

Freshman Natalie Brown scored a 6 points. Sophomore Julia Owaidat had 11 points, and junior Isabella Tochterman was high scorer with 19 points.

Assistant coach David Ancrum said the girls could have done better rebounding the ball, so he plans to work on boxing out during practice.

The girls are now 1-2 and will next face Faith Christian on Friday, Jan. 17.
