Boys’ basketball team falls to New Life in absence of key player

Boys’ varsity basketball lost against New Life Christian at home on Dec. 12, 19-44.

Because of the conflict with the high-school play, junior George Cvetich was not able to participate.

Cvetich, who plays shooting guard, was a valued player that the team missed.

According to sophomore Serajh Esmail, the Cavs usually step up and fill in gaps when a team member is absent, but tonight they fell short.

“We didn’t play like we really wanted (to win),” Esmail said. “We were sluggish.“

According to Esmail, it was a winnable game but the Cavs didn’t have the mindset to pull it off.

Freshman Emil Erickson said the team needs to want to win.

“We need to work on intensity and playing harder,” Erickson said.

The boys will play away against Delta on Monday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m.

The JV team will play away against Delta as well at 4:30 p.m. the same night.
