Varsity volleyball falls to Victory Christian in first round of playoffs, 1-3

Varsity volleyball lost their first round playoff game against Faith Christian, 1-3, on Nov. 14, ending their season.

The Cavs won the first set 25-23. They were trailing throughout the set but caught up in the end.

The team’s hopes of winning the game, however, were crushed in the next three sets, losing 17-25, 16-25, and 12-25.

“I felt kind of out of it, but I had a good amount of energy. We were trying really hard to win,” sophomore Aidan Galati said.

Junior Erin Reddy was back in the game after a previous injury. Usually a setter for the team, Reddy played libero in the first set due to her limited capabilities.

“Erin tried her hardest, and, of course, she was still great. We definitely could have beat them if we had Erin setting and if everyone tried their hardest,” Galati said.

The last three sets, despite being losses, saw a number of amazing dives and digs from the Cavs. Almost everyone hit the floor at some point trying to save a ball and yelling when they did.

But by the fourth set, the girls seemed to have lost their momentum and couldn’t make kills.

According to Galati, the Cavs were the underdogs; no one expected that they would make playoffs.

“We definitely proved ourselves as a team,” Galati said.
