Varsity volleyball
Varsity volleyball lost their home game, 0-3, against Faith Christian, Sept. 27.
Even though the Cavs lost all three sets, it wasn’t a complete blowout—the second set was especially close with both teams scoring neck and neck until the end. But the Cavs were unable to hold onto the lead and lost the set, 23-25.
Coach Jason Kreps wasn’t discouraged, however.
“We’re really starting to come together. It’s a young team, not experienced, and they’re really starting to get gelled.” Kreps said. “That’s the best they’ve played even though they lost.”
With that said, Kreps said the team still needs improvement, especially for the all-day tournament tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 28) at Jackson Sports Academy.
“The tournament is going to be all about experience,” he said.
JV volleyball
The JV also lost to Faith Christian 0-2, Sept. 27.
Two of the team’s starters—sophomores Emma Brown and Maddy Judd—were missing, which gave the rest of the team the opportunity to play the entire game. Because Brown and Judd played for the varsity instead, it was the first game with just JV players on the court.
“I think it shows that we’ve been learning more and more to work as a team,” freshman Isabelle Leavy said. “It was the first time we’d worked that rotation.”
Not many people showed up for the game due to a time conflict with a soccer game.
The next JV game is Monday, Sept. 30, against Our Lady of Guadalupe.
