The boys’ soccer team battled against Buckingham Charter at home, beating them 4-1, Sept. 27.
Sophomore Diego Perochena scored the first goal, while junior Ethan Ham scored the final three.
“I felt really cool about scoring the first goal of the game. It was very exciting,” Perochena said.
Ham felt similarly about his hat trick.
“I don’t think I’ve ever scored three goals for Country Day against a team like that. I scored three goals against Lutheran, but they weren’t that good,” Ham said.
Players were apprehensive about playing Buckingham because they say the team has “played dirty” in past games.
“It wasn’t a hard game, but it was a really chippy game. The other team played dirty so the game got really heated. I am glad that we were able to win,” senior Patrick Talamantes said.
Junior George Cvetich agreed.
“They’re just really physical,” Cvetich said.
The team will face off against Faith Christian on Monday, Sept. 30, at 4 p.m.
