Both the JV and varsity volleyball teams got their first tastes of victory this season when they defeated Cornerstone Christian and Sacramento Waldorf School at home, respectively, Sept. 5.
The JV team tumbled in the first set, but went on to win two straight sets.
“(In) our first set we were just getting used to playing together,” sophomore Emma Brown said, who played on both teams. “In the second set everyone was getting in a groove and knowing what people can do, and in the last set we just really wanted to win.”
Varsity, on the other hand, faced no trouble, winning in straight sets, 3-0. Sophomore Sydney Michel attributed the victory to good teamwork.
“Mainly we were communicating more. We found each other’s strengths and weaknesses,” she said.
The victories brought the JV’s overall record to 1-0 and varsity’s to 1-1.
Both teams next face Valley Christian at home on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
